Our Approach

At the Green Lounge, Fiona believes that different things are helpful to different people. Fiona will work with you, and together exploring what could be helpful.

Collaboration is key to success in The Green Lounge.

Fiona’s practice is rooted in person-centred ideology – this means that you, the client is at the centre of all that we do. The work often begins by developing self-awareness, gently guiding you to notice those aspect of yourself that are outside of your awareness. Once you begin to understand yourself more deeply and begin to accept yourself with compassion – change beginning to happen.

Fiona also draws on Psychodynamic theory to help bring understanding to the distress or difficult that you may be experiencing. When doing this work our past experiences and early years can often be the focus. The idea being that what happened to us in the past shapes us in the present.  Attachment Theory, Parts Work and IFS (Internal Family Systems) among others,  informs Fiona’s work when working in this way.

Fiona has knowledge and experience of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapist) and as an Integrative Therapist it may drawn upon if it felt to be useful. However, Fiona would not call herself a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and this is not the predominant feature of her method of therapy.

The Green Lounge is place of honesty, non-judgement and warmth where you will be understood sensitively as a unique and complex Human Being.
